Audit Manager (IC&C)
Purpose of the Job:
The Audit Manager provides independent assurance on the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, governance and compliance within the GLICO Group and GLICO General. The role involves overseeing risk-based audits and supporting the Group Head, Internal Controls and Compliance in strengthening the audit function according to Group policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit Planning & Risk Assessment: Support annual risk-based audit plans and conduct comprehensive risk assessment of business units to prioritize high-risk areas.
- Audit Execution: Supervise audit assignment from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with professional standards (IIA) and documenting control weaknesses or fraud risks.
- Reporting & Follow-Up: Prepare high-quality audit reports for Senior Management and the Audit Committee; monitor and validate the implementation of corrective measures.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with External Auditors and Regulators (NIC) while providing advisory support to management on risk and governance without compromising independence.
- People Management: Mentor and coach audit officers, identifying training needs to build a high-performing team.
- Compliance & Innovation: Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and promote technology driven solutions like data analytics (ACL Power BI).
Knowledge /Skills /Abilities / Competencies
- Excellent investigation and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to coach, manage teams and handle multiple priorities under pressure.
- Exception report writing and verbal communication skill.
- High level of objectivity and professional judgement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and audit/data analytics software.
Education/ Training / Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting Finance, Audit or Risk Management.
- Professional certification such as ICA, ACCA, or CISA is mandatory.
- 5-7 years in auditing with at least 3 years in a management role, preferably within insurance or financial services.
- Strong understanding of Insurance operations, NIC regulations, IFRS and risk-based audit methodologies.
Key Result Areas
- Timely completion of the annual audit and plan
- Percentage of audit recommendations successfully implemented within agreed timelines.
- Reduction in recurring audit exceptions and improved regulatory compliance.
- Evidence of professional development and performance improvement within the audit staff.
