Project Manager - MiningPro


MiningPro is an engineering and construction services provider in Ghana and West Africa with specialties in metallurgy, studies, engineering, construction and projects. 

MiningPro is seeking qualified and experienced personnel to be part of our dedicated team as a Project Manager. The role is responsible for leading, coordinating and managing projects from initiation to close-out, ensuring that the projects are efficiently and effectively managed, resulting in successful completion to the satisfaction of the Client. The selected candidate will work closely with the Project Director and independently with minimal supervision.


Industry Experience and Knowledge

1. Strong focus on site Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) with strict adherence to policies and procedures.

2. Project studies, engineering, and construction execution.

3. Practical expertise in mineral processing, mining operations, and engineering design.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

 The successful candidate will:

1. Ensure standards and quality are maintained across all projects.

2. Manage project phases, pre-feasibility, feasibility, design, and construction on time and to quality.

3. Provide plans and documentation to track deliverables and milestones.

4. Engage teams to align with project strategy and requirements.

5. Manage schedules, costs, forecasts, and monthly reporting.

6. Develop technical reports (design, feasibility, etc.) and project documentation (scope, standards, methodology, budget, schedules) for implementation and tendering.

7. Lead project, engineering, and construction teams, defining work, ensuring deadlines, and articulating objectives.

8. Identify and mitigate project and technical risks to secure successful outcomes.


Key Competencies

Deliver against key performance indicators.

Strong organizational skills, results-driven, with ability to meet strict deadlines.


Minimum Requirements

1. Degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Tech & Management.

2. Professional Engineer registration or Project Management certification.

3. 10+ years’ experience in mining or EPCM design and construction environments.

4. 5+ years managing mining/infrastructure projects from initiation to close-out.

5. Proven record in delivering medium- to large-scale projects.

Role Purpose

To provide strategic leadership and oversight for the planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of the Jospong Group’s Expansion Agenda projects. Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Project Planning and Design

  • Develop comprehensive project management frameworks for international projects.
  • Prepare Project Implementation Plans (PIPs) with timelines, milestones, budgets, and risk strategies.
  • Establish KPIs aligned with JGC’s strategic objectives.
  • Participate in feasibility and pre-feasibility assessments.

2. Project Coordination and Execution Oversight

  • Oversee implementation of project activities, ensuring alignment with approved work plans, scope, and budgets.
  • Maintain work breakdown structures (WBS) and project trackers.
  • Facilitate weekly review meetings and escalate issues requiring management attention.
  • Ensure adherence to JGC SOPs and quality standards.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) System Development

  • Develop and implement M&E systems at corporate, regional, and project levels.
  • Establish real-time performance dashboards and data collection tools.
  • Define baseline indicators for operational, environmental, and financial performance.

4. Data Collection, Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect and validate data through site visits and project reviews.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports.
  • Produce impact assessment and project evaluation reports.

5. Risk Management and Quality Assurance

  • Identify project risks and design mitigation strategies.
  • Implement quality assurance systems for deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, financial, and environmental obligations.

6. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Act as primary liaison on project performance with stakeholders.
  • Develop and present project updates and financial reports to senior management, boards, and donors.
  • Maintain strategic partnerships with banks, regulators, and international development bodies.

7. Project Evaluation and Lessons Learned

  • Lead mid-term and end-of-project evaluations.
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
  • Prepare closure reports and integrate recommendations into future planning.
  Job Specification

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Project Management, International Development, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Certification in PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of relevant post-qualification experience, with at least 7–10 years in senior project management roles.
  • Proven track record in leading multi-country, large-scale projects in Africa.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong project financing, feasibility studies, and risk analysis background.
  • Excellent knowledge of M&E frameworks, impact assessments, and reporting systems.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Asana), data tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager with a civil engineering background to lead construction projects from initiation to completion.  Client & Stakeholder Communication

· Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and subcontractors.

· Facilitate regular updates, feedback sessions, and reporting to stakeholders and upper management.


 Contract & Quality Management

· Administer contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

· Ensure compliance with all contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.

· Oversee on-site inspections and ensure construction aligns with building codes and standards.

· Lead quality assurance checks and continuous improvement efforts.

 Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, including drawings, permits, reports, and completion records.

· Submit project close-out reports and ensure regulatory documentation is filed appropriately.

 


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.

· 4–6 years of proven experience in project management within the civil engineering or construction sector.

· Strong knowledge of construction techniques, design interpretation, cost control, and project lifecycles.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, Revit/BIM tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Familiarity with contract law, site safety standards, building codes, and local regulations.

· Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

· Strong problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset.

· PMP, PRINCE2, or similar certification is a plus.
