Company Profile 

Asanko Gold Mine is a multi-pit mining complex located on the Asankrangwa Gold Belt, operating a 5.5Mtpa processing plant with expansion potential. The mine is owned by Galiano Gold Inc., a dual-listed (NYSE & TSX) mining company focused on responsible exploration, development, and operations. 

We are seeking an experienced Unit Manager (Procurement & Logistics) position in the Supply Chain Department to lead strategic sourcing, contract management, warehousing, and logistics in support of safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations. 

Role Overview 

The successful candidate will lead procurement, contracting, warehouse, and logistics operations to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and compliant supply chain performance. 

The role involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and overseeing logistics and inventory control to support operational needs. It also ensures compliance with corporate governance standards, Ghanaian mining regulations, and local content requirements. 

The position requires a commercially focused leader with strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, ideally within a mining or heavy industrial environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

Procurement & Contract Support 

• Support the implementation of procurement strategies to achieve cost efficiency, quality, and supply reliability.  

• Coordinate tender processes and assist in supplier/contractor negotiations in line with approved guidelines.  

• Monitor supplier and contractor performance against agreed SLAs and report exceptions.  

• Support contract administration, including tracking expiries, renewals, and key obligations.  

• Assist in identifying basic commercial and contractual risks and escalating issues where necessary.  

• Liaise with internal departments to ensure procurement activities align with business needs.  

• Maintain accurate procurement and contract records for reporting and audit purposes.  

Warehouse, Inventory & Logistics 

• Supervise daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, and issuance of materials.  

• Ensure proper stock control to reduce wastage, shortages, and overstock situations.  

• Coordinate logistics activities to support operational schedules and timely deliveries.  

• Enforce adherence to safety, environmental, and material handling procedures within the warehouse.  

• Support periodic stock counts and inventory reconciliation exercises.  

Governance & Compliance 

• Ensure procurement and logistics activities comply with company policies and relevant Ghanaian mining regulations and local content requirements.  

• Monitor supplier performance trends and report on key issues or opportunities for improvement.  

• Support compliance with internal audit requirements and maintain documentation for transparency and accountability.  

Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

Qualification and Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or related field. 

• Professional certification in procurement/supply chain (e.g. CIPS, CPSM). 

• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Delta ERP) and contract lifecycle software. 

• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in procurement and logistics, preferably in mining or a related heavy industry.  

• Proven experience in contract negotiation, tender management, supplier engagement, and stakeholder management. 

• Strong background in warehouse and inventory management (WMS exposure preferred). 

• Experience in cost control, budgeting, and commercial analysis.  

• Solid understanding of Ghanaian mining regulations and local content requirements (e.g. GIAMA).  

• Hands-on experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, and stock optimization. 

• Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory tracking tools. 

• Ability to streamline logistics workflows to support production and reduce downtime. 

• Knowledge of safety and compliance standards for storage and material handling.
