THE POSITION:
We are seeking to recruit an exceptional and passionate French Language and Literature Teacher to join
our vibrant A-Level and IGCSE academic team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced educator
with a deep love for the French language and culture, dedicated to inspiring students to achieve
excellence in their linguistic and literary pursuits. As a vital member of our team, you will have a proven
track record of preparing students for success in Cambridge International examinations and fostering a
lifelong appreciation for languages and literature.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:
✓ Design, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that ignite curiosity and promote a love for the French language and literature.
✓ Establish clear learning objectives, structured lesson plans, and effective instructional sequences tailored to the needs of IGCSE and A-Level students.
✓ Employ diverse teaching strategies to cater to varied learning styles and academic levels.
✓ Integrate technology seamlessly to enrich classroom experiences and facilitate effective language acquisition.
Language & Literature Development:
✓ Teach core principles of French, including advanced grammar, vocabulary, syntax and literary analysis.
✓ Cultivate students’ appreciation, understanding and critical engagement with French literature and culture.
✓ Enhance verbal communication skills through reading, discussion, debate and presentations.
✓ Develop students’ writing abilities across various genres and formats aligned with curriculum standards.
✓ Promote critical thinking and analytical reasoning in all facets of language and literary study.
Classroom & Behavior Management:
✓ Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages active participation.
✓ Promote independent and collaborative learning experiences.
✓ Maintain discipline in accordance with school policies to ensure a positive and productive atmosphere.
✓ Oversee student behavior during extracurricular activities as needed.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring:
✓ Track student progress through formative and summative assessments.
✓ Design, administer and evaluate assessments that align with curriculum objectives.
✓ Use performance data to adapt teaching approaches and support individual student growth.
Collaboration & Communication:
✓ Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, counselors and administrators to support holistic development.
✓ Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.
✓ Keep accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments and test scores in accordance with school policies.
Professional Development & Engagement:
✓ Participate actively in staff meetings, training and school initiatives.
✓ Pursue ongoing professional growth to stay abreast of the latest pedagogical trends and best practices in language teaching.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in French, Linguistics, or Education (master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE and A‑Level French.
• Valid teaching certification/license.
• Excellent command of French and modern pedagogical approaches.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Creativity, innovation and passion for inspiring students.
• Proficiency in integrating digital tools and technology into teaching.
• Up-to-date with modern pedagogical approaches and trends in language education.
• Proven ability to motivate high-achieving students and extend gifted learners.
• High standards of professional conduct, resilience under pressure and excellent
communication skills.
