Mine Development Planner - Hujak Mining Company Limited

Job Summary

The Mine Development Planner will be responsible for developing, coordinating and monitoring short, medium, and long-term mine development plans to support safe, efficient and economically viable mining operations. The role will work closely with Mining, Geology, Survey, Processing, Engineering, HSE and other operational teams.

Core Duties

1. Develop and maintain short-, medium- and long-term mine development plans.
2. Prepare mine production and development schedules in line with the approved Life-of-Mine plan.
3. Coordinate mine design, development sequences, production targets, and operational priorities.
4. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual mine plans and schedules.
5. Develop production forecasts for ore, waste, stripping ratios, and mine development activities.
6. Work with the Geology and Survey teams to incorporate geological, resource, and survey data into mine plans.
7. Monitor actual mining performance against approved plans and identify deviations.
8. Conduct production and schedule reviews and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
9. Assist in determining equipment, manpower, and other resource requirements for planned mining activities.
10. Support pit, haul-road, dump, stockpile, and other mine infrastructure development planning.
11. Contribute to mine optimisation studies, productivity improvement initiatives, and operational cost control.
12. Prepare planning reports, schedules, dashboards and other management information.
13. Ensure mine plans comply with applicable mining regulations, technical standards, environmental requirements, and company policies.
14. Participate in risk assessments and planning meetings relating to mine development and production.
15. Maintain accurate planning records and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mine Planning, Mineral Engineering or a closely related discipline.
2. Professional qualification or membership of a recognised mining engineering institution will be an advantage.
3. Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant experience in mine planning or mine development, preferably in a large-scale mining environment.
4. Experience in open-pit mining and mine production planning will be an advantage.
5. Proficiency in mine planning software such as Deswik, Surpac, MineSched, Datamine or similar platforms is a plus.
6. Good knowledge of mine design, production scheduling, resource utilisation and mining operations.
7. Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
8. Good knowledge of occupational health, safety and environmental requirements in mining.
9. Ability to interpret geological, survey and production data.
10. Excellent communication, coordination and report-writing skills.
11. Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary technical and operational teams.
