Job Summary
The Mining Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising mining activities to ensure safe, efficient and economically viable extraction of mineral resources. The successful candidate will support mine development, production, mine design, equipment utilisation and compliance with applicable mining standards and regulations.
Core Duties
Develop and implement mine production and development plans.
Design and optimise mining activities, including pit development, haul roads, waste dumps and stockpiles.
Supervise daily mining operations and ensure production targets are achieved.
Coordinate drilling, blasting, loading, hauling and other mining activities.
Monitor mining performance, productivity, equipment utilisation and operating costs.
Work closely with Geology and Survey teams to ensure accurate ore and waste identification.
Prepare production schedules, operational reports and performance analyses.
Assist in mine planning, scheduling and Life-of-Mine development.
Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs and optimise resource utilisation.
Ensure mining activities comply with approved mine plans, technical standards and regulatory requirements.
Promote and enforce health, safety and environmental standards across mining operations.
Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations and operational improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with contractors, equipment operators and other technical teams where applicable.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting for mining operations.
Maintain accurate technical and operational records.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Must be eligible for registration or membership with the relevant professional mining engineering body in Ghana.
Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant experience in mining operations.
Practical experience in mine planning, production, drilling and blasting, and mining operations.
Knowledge of mine planning and design software such as Deswik, Surpac, MineSched, Datamine or equivalent will be an advantage.
Good understanding of mining regulations, occupational health and safety requirements and environmental standards.
Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret geological, survey and production information.
Good technical report-writing and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and under demanding field conditions.
