Role Focus

The role is responsible for managing all aspects of project commercial activities, including contract administration, cost control, procurement support, claims management, change control, and financial reporting

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Establish and implement the project's commercial management framework, including policies, procedures, reporting systems, controls, and governance processes.

• Lead the commercial administration of engineering, procurement, construction, consultancy, and vendor contracts throughout the project lifecycle, from award to close-out.

• Review and interpret contract terms, commercial obligations, payment provisions, and project risks, providing guidance to project leadership and delivery teams.

• Develop, monitor, and report on project budgets, commitments, forecasts, cash flow, contingency usage, and cost performance in collaboration with Finance and Project Controls.

• Prepare and review cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender budgets, and pricing using current market data and applicable industry standards.

• Support procurement activities by contributing to tender documentation, commercial evaluations, negotiations, contract awards, and vendor selection.

• Review and certify contractor and consultant payment applications, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and accurate measurement of completed work.

• Manage contract variations, change orders, claims, and commercial correspondence, ensuring timely administration and compliance with contractual requirements.

• Evaluate contractor claims and commercial disputes, providing recommendations based on contract provisions, project records, and supporting evidence.

• Collaborate with Project Planning and Engineering teams to align commercial performance with project schedules, progress, and cost forecasts.

• Monitor project cost trends, identify commercial risks and opportunities, and recommend strategies to optimize project value and cost efficiency.

• Maintain accurate and auditable commercial records, including contracts, variations, claims, payments, forecasts, approvals, and final accounts.

• Prepare regular commercial reports, cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and management updates to support informed project decision-making.

• Coordinate contract close-out activities, including final accounts, reconciliation, release of securities, and documentation archiving.

• Support commercial negotiations with contractors, consultants, and suppliers while ensuring compliance with company governance and contractual obligations.

Work Environment

This position is based at the Akyem mine site.

Training and Experience

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering Cost Management, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Additional Knowledge

• Strong working knowledge of construction and supply contracts, international project commercial practice and application of Chinese cost standards alongside local market and contract-specific pricing requirements.

Industry Experience

• 5-7 years’ of directly related strategic sourcing experience.

• Experience in the mining industry or comparable heavy industrial projects.

• Experience on gold-processing or brownfield expansion projects is desirable.
