Role Profile – Mechanical Technician
Function/Department: Supply

Reports To: Packaging Maintenance Engineer
Job Level/Grade: L7
Purpose of the Role:
To execute mechanical maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and modifications on plant and equipment across
Packaging and Cellars to ensure optimal equipment availability, optimal equipment performance rates and support uninterrupted production within approved budget.
Key Accountabilities:
• Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety standards, act as a visible safety ambassador and challenge
unsafe behaviours.
• Comply with all Food Safety and Quality Management System requirements to ensure safe and highquality product output.
• Operate, clean, and maintain assigned plant and equipment; respond promptly to breakdowns and
support efficient production.
• Execute Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to maximize equipment availability and
operational efficiency.
• Manage and account for materials, components, and spare parts required for equipment upkeep.
• Provide support across the team during breakdowns or maintenance activities; demonstrate
flexibility in work practices.
• Work closely with the Shift Manager to meet production targets and customer service levels.
• Engage in continuous training and development; support the upskilling of team members and foster
collaborative working relationships.
• Complete and interpret required operational and maintenance reports, including logs, checklists, and
condition monitoring sheets.
Key Requirements – Qualifications, Experience, Skills etc.:
• Minimum of HND or Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 1-3 years’ hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial
environment.
• Exposure to FMCG or beverage production equipment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance procedures, and safety standards.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults efficiently.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
• Willingness to work in shifts and under minimal supervision
