Role Profile – Packaging Team Lead
Function/Department: Industrial Operations / Packaging
Location: Kaase
Reports To: Packaging Manager
Job Level/Grade: L6A
Purpose of the Role:
The Packaging Team Lead oversees shift production activities, driving safety, quality, and efficiency on the
packaging lines. The role is accountable for team performance, OEE targets, cost effectiveness,
compliance with company policies, and the proper use and care of assets, while fostering team
development and creating opportunities for growth.
Key Accountabilities:
• Ensure safe, high-quality production in compliance with Food Safety and Quality Management
System requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to Occupational Health & Safety standards,
challenging unsafe behaviors, and enforcing site procedures.
• Lead and develop the shift team through coaching, training, and motivation, fostering multiskilling to achieve business objectives
• Monitor hourly production performance, focusing on OEE, downtime, quality, and waste, and
maintain effective team communication.
• Drive product quality by ensuring “Right First Time” delivery against process control parameters.
• Address non-conformance promptly using Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) and share
learnings to prevent recurrence.
• Manage materials and components efficiently during shift operations.
• Lead improvement initiatives (ITFs/PIPs) to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and raise
standards.
• Foster a positive, disciplined, and collaborative team culture aligned with company values.
Key Requirements – Qualifications, Experience, Skills etc.:
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Science, Engineering, Manufacturing or related field
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in a beverage or FMCG manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years
in a supervisory role
• Strong knowledge of production systems, packaging equipment and processes
• Effective resource management skills.
• Strong people management, leadership, and motivational ability.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) methodologies.
• Experience in leading improvement projects (ITFs/PIPs)
