Network Systems Engineer - CSquared

Position: Network Systems Engineer 

Location: Ghana 

Level: 3

Role Overview

This position is responsible for designing computer network systems for the organisation and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Csquared Group's IT infrastructure. This person also creates updates and/ or add-ons to the original system to streamline business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Server Administration:

1. Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (including application servers, VPNs, routers, and database servers)
2. Perform routine server maintenance tasks (e.g., patching, backups, updates)
3. Implement and sustain server security best practices
4. Monitor server performance and troubleshoot any issues
5. Migrate servers to virtual environments (e.g., VMware, VirtualBox)

Network Administration:

1. Manage and maintain network infrastructure (LAN/WAN)
2. Configure and troubleshoot network devices (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls)
3. Implement network monitoring solutions and troubleshoot network issues
4. Ensure network security and compliance with best practices

System Security:

1. Implement and maintain system security policies and procedures
2. Manage user accounts and access controls
3. Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
4. Respond to security incidents and take appropriate action

User Support:

1. Provide technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in person
2. Troubleshoot and resolve user issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity
3. Document procedures and solutions for future reference

Project Implementation:

1. Participate in IT project planning and implementation
2. Assist with the deployment of new technologies and systems
3. Document project activities and outcomes

Other Responsibilities:

Stay up-to-date with the latest IT trends and technologies

Perform other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications:

1. BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering.
2. 3+ years experience in monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer networks
3. Experience with Juniper and Cisco networking equipment and technologies
4. Knowledge of network security practices and principles
5. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA
6. Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
7. Fundamental understanding of IP networking fundamentals including the OSI model
8. Fundamental understanding of deployment and Maintenance of Power Systems
9. Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers.

Other Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, VirtualBox)
2. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
3. Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell,JS)
4. Experience with database administration (MySQL)
5. Experience with IT monitoring tools (Cacti, Zabbix, Nagios)
6. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
