The Legal and Compliance Officer is responsible for leading the legal and compliance function of GCX. This includes ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and rules; developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures; providing legal advice to the Exchange; managing legal and regulatory risks; and providing legal representation for the Exchange.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance programme.
- Provide legal advice to the CEO and other internal stakeholders.
- Manage legal and regulatory risks across the Exchange.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with listing requirements and rules of the Exchange.
- Ensure timely resolution of legal disputes.
- Provide legal representation for the Exchange, including appearing in court and handling litigation matters.
- Provide legal support for contract negotiations and drafting.
- Develop and implement legal and compliance training programmes.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection laws.
Qualifications
- Qualifying Certificate in Law.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant post qualifying certificate work experience.
- In-depth knowledge of compliance, legal, and regulatory requirements relevant to the Exchange (eg: Anti-Money Laundering Act 2020 / Securities Industry Act 2016).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Very good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Creative thinking abilities.
